Since Linde not only designs and builds, but also owns and operates hydrogen and synthesis gas plants, our ability to serve our clients extends beyond the traditional client/supplier relationship. Hydrogen and synthesis gas plants designed and supplied by Linde are economical, highly reliable and easy to operate, resulting in the overall lowest cost for our clients. These capabilities, along with being the only hydrogen/synthesis gas EPS plant supplier with in-house reformer and PSA technologies, positions Linde as a totally integrated engineering, fabrication, and construction company providing hydrogen and synthesis gas production facilities.

Linde is proud that our service to industry not only includes steam methane reforming for hydrogen and synthesis gas production, but our capabilities extend to being a premier supplier of gasification technology, including ancillary gasification support technologies. Linde owns and operates gasification plants, and our operating experience is integrated into highly efficient and reliable plant designs. Linde support technologies include world scale oxygen plants, heat recovery, sulfur removal, sour shift, Rectisol®, methanation and of course, PSA. These capabilities, along with being a GE-gasification licensee, positions Linde as a premier EPC supplier for gasification and related support technologies.

 

Hydrogen - Capabilities

The core Linde synthesis gas technologies include:

  • Multiple Linde proprietary reforming technologies, including steam-hydrocarbon reforming technology for light to heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks, tandem reforming, autothermal reforming and isothermal reforming.
  • Linde Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) systems for synthesis gas, hydrogen purification, and hydrogen recovery from off-gas streams.
  • Partial oxidation technology for heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks, including Linde air separation units to provide high purity oxygen for efficient gasification.
  • GE gasification technology (licensed) with extensive experience in feedstocks, from heavy residual oil to natural gas.
  • Linde Rectisol™ synthesis gas purification systems providing the capability to separate carbon dioxide from sulfur compounds.
  • Linde cryogenic technology for the separation of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen.
  • Linde Ammonia Concept (LAC) for low cost ammonia production.
  • Linde proprietary sulfur recovery and tail gas processing technology, integrated into the synthesis gas production flow scheme.
 

Hydrogen - Experience

More then 500 hydrogen plants, Rectisol® units, gasification units and PSA’s have been engineered, designed and built by Linde world-wide, for clients in the refining, chemical and fertilizer industry, many of which have been built on a lump sum turnkey basis. With a full range of proprietary synthesis gas technology covering a broad range of feedstocks and capacities, Linde is capable of providing economical configurations to meet owner requirements. These plants have capacities ranging from below 1 MMSCFD (900 Nm3/hr) to well above 100 MMSCFD (100,000 Nm3/hr). Many of these plants are capable of processing of multiple types of feedstock. Most of these plants have been built on a lump sum turn key basis using the latest in design and engineering tools.
